Choosing an Alpaca quilt
The choice of the correct alpaca quilt requires some consideration especially as alpaca fleece is more thermally efficient that other natural fibres eg wool, so you can buy a lighter weight alpaca quilt and be just as warm as a heavier weight wool quilt.
The correct choice of an alpaca quilt will usually depend upon you personal profile. Climate Do you live in a hot/warm/cool or cold climate? Bedroom heating Is your bedroom heated or not? Personal warmth profile Are you a "hottie" or maybe a "coldie"? Each of the above need to be taken into consideration in selecting the right alpaca quilt to suit you.
To further assist in selecting the right quilt for you, each of the four Kelly & Windsor alpaca quilt collections come in two weights being heavier for a warmer quilt and lighter for a cooler quilt. What does "the number of blankets" mean? This is an out of date Australian term used to rate quilts against wool blankets. Generally a single blanket is cool, two blankets are moderatey warm, three blankets are comfortably warm and a four blanket quilt is very warm.
As a guide, we have rated the following heavier weight alpaca quilts on the blanket scale to assist you in making the correct choice - Alpaca Gold 500 - 4 blankets Alpaca Classic 450 - 3/4 blankets Alpaca Country 450 - 2/3 blankets Alpaca Light 250 - 1 blanket If you are in doubt about which alpaca quilt is right for you, please contact us by phone or email, and we will further advise you on the correct choice.
